Ardmore Film Studios

Phase-1 of this project comprises 21,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art film studio with a 24,000 sq. ft. support space comprising a stage area, and a 5-storey support building comprising support spaces, stores/props, waiting areas, changing areas, hair/make-up & production offices/admin.

The film stage is situated nearby the busy N11 motorway. iAcoustics carried out an initial site survey/investigation to establish the prevailing ambient noise levels. The indoor ambient noise level requirements for a film stage is extremely onerous due to the sensitive nature of audio recordings; the stage envelope needed to be designed and constructed to keep out road traffic noise. The proposed lightweight envelope posed a significant acoustical challenge since lightweight constructions do not tend to perform as well as heavyweight build-ups. iAcoustics developed an innovative build-up that incorporated de-coupling techniques, a damping membrane, and an internal lining system.
