The Guinness Academy and Stoutie Experience form part of the visitor experience at the Guinness Storehouse, St James’s Gate, Dublin. The spaces accommodate high visitor numbers and interactive experiences, making good control of reverberation important for speech intelligibility, visitor comfort and the overall acoustic environment.
iAcoustics was appointed to investigate excessive reverberation within the spaces and develop a practical acoustic treatment strategy that could be integrated with the existing architectural finishes.
The assessment included site measurements and review of the internal room acoustics, followed by the specification of additional sound-absorptive treatment. The completed solution incorporated Sonaspray acoustic spray treatment together with PET acoustic wall panelling, providing increased absorption while maintaining the architectural character and operational requirements of the visitor spaces.
The works significantly reduced reverberation within the affected areas, improving speech clarity and creating a more comfortable acoustic environment for both visitors and staff.
