Harold’s Cross Educate Together Secondary School is a major new education facility developed for the Department of Education and Youth on the former Harold’s Cross Greyhound Stadium site in Dublin 6W. Delivered by ABM as the second phase of the wider education campus, the four-storey, 11,576 m² school provides accommodation for approximately 1,000 pupils together with a four-classroom Special Educational Needs Unit, specialist teaching spaces, a PE Hall, General Purpose Hall and associated student and staff facilities.
iAcoustics provided acoustic consultancy services throughout the project, with the design developed in accordance with the Department of Education’s SDG 02-05-03, Acoustic Performance in New Primary & Post Primary School Buildings. The acoustic strategy addressed indoor ambient noise, airborne and impact sound insulation, room acoustics and reverberation control, acoustic separation of teaching and specialist spaces, building-services noise and sound absorption within circulation areas. SDG 02-05-03 is intended to provide acoustic conditions that support clear communication and prevent noise from interfering with teaching and study activities.
iAcoustics also carried out construction-stage acoustic inspections and post-completion acoustic testing to verify the performance of the completed school against the specified criteria. Testing included assessment of sound insulation, reverberation and internal acoustic conditions, providing independent verification that the completed construction achieved the required acoustic performance. The school was completed in June 2026.
