National Velodrome

iAcoustics is proud to have played a pivotal role in the development of the new National Velodrome and Badminton Centre in west Dublin, a landmark project with an official budget of €87 million. This state-of-the-art facility, set to enhance Ireland’s competitive edge in cycling and badminton, presented unique acoustic challenges that required our expertise.

Our involvement began with comprehensive initial briefings to understand the project’s specific acoustic requirements. We conducted extensive fact-finding surveys and developed a robust acoustic design strategy tailored to the facility’s needs. Utilizing advanced technology, including CATT-Acoustics software and IRIS room measurement systems, we created detailed room acoustic models to predict and optimize the sound environment.

The design strategy focused on creating a versatile acoustic environment suitable for both sports and potential music events. This involved careful consideration of materials, construction techniques, and the integration of sustainable acoustic solutions. Our goal was to ensure that the acoustics would not only meet but exceed international standards, providing an optimal experience for athletes and spectators alike.

Throughout the project, our team, led by industry veterans Jim Dunne and Glen Plunkett, collaborated closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of the acoustic solutions into the overall design. Our commitment to excellence and innovation was evident in every phase of the project, from initial concept to final implementation.

The National Velodrome and Badminton Centre, set to open in May 2025, will stand as a testament to iAcoustics’ capability to deliver high-quality, sustainable acoustic environments for complex, multifunctional spaces. We are excited to see this facility contribute to Ireland’s sporting success and look forward to future projects that challenge and showcase our expertise.
