Premier Inn Hotel, George’s Street, Dublin

iAcoustics were appointed as lead acoustic consultants for the Premier Inn Hotel’s 41–46 South Great Georges Street Development. This is the first Premier Inn Hotel in Dublin’s city centre. A prime location in Dublin 2, 41–46 South Great Georges Street is just a few minutes’ walk from Grafton Street, Temple Bar, Trinity College and other major city centre attractions. The new hotel will be created behind the existing building facade and will include Premier Inn’s in-house Thyme restaurant.

Noise levels from the streetscape were particularly challenging; a significant acoustic study was carried out at the early design stage to qualify the levels of traffic noise. iAcoustics engaged with the wider Design Team to come up with a façade design strategy which would satisfy not only acoustic requirements, but also overheating and ventilation requirements. We also carried out full acoustic testing on completion of the project to demonstrate that the building has achieved its envisaged acoustic performance.
